Among the many new features of the second edition of the Cisterna Film Festival, definitely there is the space left to young filmmakers.
The “pre-opening” event of the festival was the workshop on the introduction to the cinema held by the artistic director and producer Cristian Scardigno, on Thursday, August 18 at the headquarters of MOBilitazioni Artistiche in Via Manzoni, Cisterna di Latina. The participants, aged between 11 and 18 years old, were allowed to learn some basics of film history, e.g. the famous birth of the seventh art by the Lumière brothers, and so on. Mainly they came in contact with the medium in a more technical way, learning the various roles of those who contribute to the filmmaking, the processing steps that are behind a movie and finally they shot, directed and starred in some short scenes.

Another initiative directed to young people was the introduction of a competitive section created especially for them: Next Generation. Adolescents, selected in collaboration with the headmasters of the three School Complexes in Cisterna: “Plinio Il Vecchio”, “Leone Caetani” and “Alfonso Volpi”, attended the projection of six titles about adolescent world, and then they voted their favorite, as a proper jury. The winner in this category was the Dutch film “All there is”, directed by the young filmmaker Jeroen Mourmans, about father-daughter relationship in an apocalyptic world where hope should never miss. (Trailer here)

Mourmans spoke about his victory and about our festival even in his land, and we thank him for it. (Listen to the interview)
