Last edition of the Cisterna Film Festival – International Short Film Festival ended on Sunday, July 23, with the award ceremony in the crowded court of Palazzo Caetani.

The Best Film declared by the jury made up of the actress Elda Alvigini, the director Renato Chiocca, the reviewers Catello Masullo and Rossella Pozza, was The Silence by the Iranians Ali Asgari and Farnoosh Samadi.

The Silence is set in a hospital where a woman is waiting for a medical response. In absence of an interpreter, her young daughter is translating what the doctor says, but the news of the illness shocks her so much to close the young girl in a frosty silence. Asgari, who came with great surprise from Iran to take the prize, thanked the public but above all “the viewers who are the heart of the cinema.”

The audience voted its favorite each night, and the one who kept the largest number of votes was Fantasia, a Finnish short by Teemu Nikki. The guys of the Next Generation section voted for was The Boy by the Sea by Vasily Chuprina (This year again, for the second time, a Dutch movie). During the night, it was announced the winner of the MOBilitazioni Artistiche Award for the Best Actress, voted directly by the festival staff: the young protagonist of the highly acclaimed Maman(s) by Maimouna Doucouré, Sokhna Diallo, who sent a thank-you videomessage. Finally, three special mentions by the jury: best actress to Flavie Delangle, protagonist in Marlon; best script to Le Plombier, and for the direction to Mariano Biasin with the short El inicio de Fabrizio.

Citizens responded more than good to the event: every night between 250 and 300 spectators whether seated and standing, coming not only from the nearby but greatly from outside the province. Peak of the Festival was Ninni Bruschetta presenting his book Manuale di sopravvivenza dell’attore non protagonista (Survival guide for supporting actors) on Saturday evening.

Overall, four days full of appointments, guests, novelties, and so many winners. Moreover, the citizens of Cisterna di Latina have finally had the opportunity to see quality movie projections in absence of a cinema in the city.

The Cisterna Film Festival has been sponsored by the Regione Lazio, the Provincia di Latina and the Comune di Cisterna di Latina.
